Awfa nice folk in the North East
I was chuffed to be invited to speak at Drouth, an informal gathering hosted by Creative Aberdeen.
It was a bit daunting when I realised it was a tech-free setup, no Keynote slides to hide behind, just me and my rambling tales from my uneven career trajectory.
I intentionally scribbled very few notes, just the main pointers across my journey from Cork to Glasgow, to the Isle of Lewis, and finally up to Aberdeen. I wanted to engage more, be a bit loose, and tell stories.

It was the right approach, as the assembled group seemed to warm to the conversational tone rather than to a cold lecture.

I loved how many young creatives asked questions about my talk and really appreciated my advice.
It was so lovely to meet so many talented folk - Shout out Sarah Leask, Suzi Steele, the crew from Studio Forty Two… It was exactly what I wanted to do when I moved to this part of Scotland. I was keen to plug back into a rich creative scene.
