LOOM x Lews Distllery

A new collaboration between my LOOM alter ego and a local distillery (via the awesome JamHot studio in Glasgow)

Labels for the Gin Bottles

When I met with David from The Lews Distillery in Stornoway and he had a LOOM Chessmen Scarf in his hand and was gushing about the design and ‘Disco Heather’ colour scheme. Well, this was definitely different from the usual client meetings I’ve had.

The chessmen graphics have been one of our most popular designs. Thickly lined interpretations of the Scandanavian-styled iconic chessmen pieces were discovered on the Isle of Lewis in the early 19th century.

The designs had always been well received and were now being commissioned to help a local business appeal to a wider audience.

The Lews Distillery launched its first batch of Stornoway Gin in July. They were massively aided by the spectacular branding skills of Glasgow-based agency JamHot (always been a huge fan of their work).

I applied the Chessmen graphics to the marketing material and wove them into some of the existing brand architecture for the launch. King, Queen and Berserker designs were applied to tags, table talkers and flyers.

David was an absolute gent throughout the process, and I’m so delighted for him and the team that the launch has been such a success.

Pick up a bottle today and support a great local business. Slàinte. 🍸
